Question from Beading Beauty

Another question was sent to me a couple days ago.....

Laurie, can u use Tiger Tail wire for wire wrapping? Like earrings and bracelets?
Thanks!
Beading Beauty in CA

Hi Beading Beauty!
Tiger Tail was designed for bead stringing and bead weaving. It is a whole bunch of wires twisted together and does not hold a shape when bent. It does "kink" though so be careful, those kinks are very hard to get straightened out. So my answer is no, in my experiences you can"t use Tiger Tail for traditional wire wrapping.
Have a great day!

This is so much fun! I am so happy people are actually coming to me for advice!
I have about 8 years experience but am far far from knowing it all HAHA
We NEVER quit learning I don't care how long you have been making jewelry. We learn from
everyone we come accross. Each day is a learning experience and should be cherished!

HAPPY BEADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Approach......New Ideas!!! JEWELRY TIPS!!!!!

Laurie's Jewelry CLICK HERE

Sales are a bit down right now. I think it's the time of year. Valentine's Day is over and Easter is not a big jewelry type holiday.
I have a ton of people writing me thru email asking me questions about jewelry making and selling jewelry. I have a class here in the Springs of about 5 people. I started out teaching wire basics and name writing with wire. We'll be moving along to different bead stitches, working with seed beads, Delicas and crystals!
For now tho, I'm going to put some of my questions up for people to read! Maybe someone will come along and follow me, I will try to put up a question each day or every other day, depending on how often I get them myself. I think you will find these interesting and helpful! I hope to see you here following me! If I get more follwers, I will start some jewelry GIVE-AWAYS!!!!!!

1st Question;
Hey Laurie, what would you recommend getting into first for a person who is just starting in the jewelry making business? What I mean is, since I am fond of beads, stringing and wire wrapping what is the easiest for me to get started making?
Thank you, Melissa C from Canada

Hi Melissa!
Thanks for writing to me. This is a hard question. When I first found my love for beads and jewelry, I started out making simple earrings with head pins and bracelets with beading wire and LOTS of beads. I'm not an advertiser for Preston's Wire Boot Camp BUT I do recommend checking out his site!
www.wirejewelrybootcamp.com
I have learned so much from him and think his wire jewelry is amazing! I guess what I'm trying to say is everyone is different (of course) and you will just have to do some soul searching to see where your heart lies....... I started out with glass beads, moved to crystal, then wire wrapping, then seed beads and stitching patterns ect..... so NOW I'm experienced in all avenues and can make ALMOST anything! With some exceptions LOL
Let me know which path you decide to take ok??

Inspiration........

Inspiration....really.....what does that mean??? I see so many wonderful designs and so many wonderful artists that if I gave credit to them all I would be here for days.
My ideas spread and go in different direction every day almost! All of my passion goes into jewelry weather it be wire, beads, stringing, clay, chain....whatever! It's ALL beautiful!
All I can say is take a look around you, Inspiration is just a figment of your imagination, after all, your ideas are just that.....YOUR ideas and they stem from where??
I will not give up, thats a given!

Been A While..........

Know what? I think I'm doing this all for myself! I have no followers and I haven't gotten any messages! OH WELL, I am having a bunch of fun doing this anyway!!!
I am so new to blogging, I have always known about blogging but never took the time to make a profile! I thought no one would ever see it anyway, well I was half right hehe
I'm not bitching, I think everyone will find me givin time :)
As for sales, they are down. I have so much competition out there it's crazy! I am starting to do some mixed media tho, with some beads, some copper wire, silver wire and gold filled wires. Some with polymer clay too!
I am getting more unique as I go! If anyone ever reads this, please do me a favor and check out my website ok???
Thanks!

Wire Jewelry Advice :)

Helpful Hints For Caring For Your Wire Jewelry
Silver will tarnish or discolor if left out in the open. Especially in the parts of the world where humidity is high. Tarnish is a natural process caused by oxidation. It begins to appear as a golden tone, then gets darker.

The easiest way to keep silver bright and minimize the amount of tarnish is to store it in a cool, dry place, (away from moist areas like the bathroom), in an airtight zip lock bag. This will decrease the need for polishing. Avoid using Liquid silver cleaner or polish on your wire gemstone jewelry. These are very harsh and will strip away your jewelry's finish. Do not use silver cleaners on semi-precious gemstones as they may loose their luster. Instead, use a little mild dish soap and warm water and a super soft baby tooth brush for the corners. I don't recommend using window cleaner (some people do) but I have found it to be too harsh with all the amonia ect...

Make sure you remove your wire jewelry before swimming, showering, cleaning with chemicals, or applying hand lotion.

Just a few suggestions before you buy wire jewelry. It's worth it!!!
